Wurdong Community Information Session
22 August 2024

Between July 4 and August 7, 2024, Akaysha Energy completed its third round of community engagement, timed to align with the public notification period. While not legally required, this extra phase was added to ensure thorough communication around the complex planning documents and to address feedback from previous engagements.
The engagement included direct mail-outs, advertisements in Gladstone Today, community drop-in sessions, and outreach via email and phone. Special efforts were made to connect with neighbors and stakeholders who had previously raised questions or concerns.
Despite invitations to attend in-depth information sessions, no stakeholders accepted the offer. However, two drop-in sessions at the Benaraby Progress Association Hall on July 24 and 25 saw participation from five community members. Updates were also made available at the Gladstone Regional Council office.
Public notification efforts were handled by external contractor Development Signs, who posted notices in the Gladstone Today, mailed letters to neighboring landowners, and installed signage at the property.
Akaysha remains committed to informing and engaging the local community, ensuring everyone has the chance to provide input and stay updated on the Waratah Super Battery project.
