Akaysha Energy recently hosted a job fair and community engagement session for the proposed Halys Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), bringing together local residents, job seekers, training providers, and industry partners to share information and listen to community feedback.

The session was designed to create an open and welcoming space for conversation — providing practical information about employment opportunities while also giving community members the chance to learn more about the project and ask questions directly of the team.

Job opportunities and local participation

A key focus of the job fair was exploring how local workers and businesses can be involved in the Halys project across construction and operations. Attendees were able to:

  • Learn about the types of roles typically required during different stages of a battery project
  • Speak directly with members of the project team about skills, experience, and pathways into the industry
  • Ask questions about local procurement opportunities and how businesses can stay informed about future work

The session also highlighted Akaysha Energy’s commitment to local employment, training, and workforce development, including working with regional suppliers wherever possible.

Open conversation and community questions

Alongside employment discussions, the broader community engagement session gave residents the opportunity to learn more about:

  • What a battery energy storage system is and how it supports a reliable energy grid
  • What to expect during construction and operation
  • Safety, noise, land use, and environmental considerations
  • How community feedback helps shape project planning

Importantly, the session was not just about presenting information — it was about listening. Community members shared thoughtful questions, local knowledge, and perspectives that will help inform next steps as planning continues.

Ongoing engagement

Akaysha Energy understands that strong projects are built through early, transparent, and ongoing engagement. The Halys job fair and engagement session is one of many ways the team is committed to staying connected with the local community and ensuring people have access to timely, clear information.

Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their time, and contributed to the conversation. Community input plays an important role in shaping how the project progresses, and we value the opportunity to engage directly.

Further updates will be shared through the Community Portal as the project continues to evolve.
