On Saturday 12th July, Akaysha Energy hosted a vibrant and well-attended Community Information Day at the Alpine Inn in Khancoban to share details about the proposed Murray Terminal Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

Locals gathered throughout the afternoon to learn more about the 500MW/2000MWh energy project, ask questions, and speak directly with members of the Akaysha project team. The event was informal and highly engaging, with residents showing a strong interest in how the project will support regional energy reliability, local job creation, and a cleaner energy future.

Common themes discussed included safety, visual impacts, traffic during construction, and how the BESS would work alongside existing Snowy Hydro operations. Akaysha team members provided clear explanations, visuals, and printed materials, helping build trust and transparency from the very early stages of the project.

The conversation was not just one-way — community members offered valuable local insights, raised thoughtful questions, and expressed a keen desire to stay involved as the project moves through the NSW planning process. Akaysha’s team welcomed the feedback and reinforced their commitment to ongoing, genuine engagement.

This early session marks the beginning of a long-term conversation with the Khancoban community. As the Murray Terminal BESS progresses through the state significant development pathway, Akaysha will continue to create opportunities for meaningful local input and collaboration.

For those who couldn’t attend, project information and feedback options remain available online or via the project team at community@akayshaenergy.com.
